Prakash and his beautiful sister live an impoverished lifestyle in a rented room in Bombay. They do not even have enough to eat and are three months behind in their rent. The neighborhood has put pressure on their landlord to evict them as they suspect his sister of being overly friendly with a homeless male who calls himself Laatsaheb. Things only get worse after Prakash is killed and his sister decides to re-locate by train. While traveling she finds her co-passenger is none other than Laatsaheb - who confesses that he loves her. Before she could respond, the train meets with an accident, he survives with minor injuries but she loses her memory, is hospitalized and presumed to have lost her mind also. She manages to escape and ends up with Imperial College's Professor Nath - who gets smitten by her beauty, calls her Kamini, assures her that she has always lived with him, and decides not to treat her medically - so that she can be his forever.

In order to save her grandfather`s mansion, Rama agrees to marry a much older male, Madanlal, who decides to sell some artifacts to prospective wealthy buyers, including Mr. and Mrs. Rai. The sale is hampered by heavy rains and the entry of a traveling painter-singer, Awara, as well as four bandits, including Baldev Singh, who is wanted by the police for the brutal murder of his wife.

A young aspiring dancer's father forces her to marry a stoic, yet understanding man. Then begins a sweet-and-sour relationship with her husband. But when he comes to know she loves another man, he strives to bring her and her lover close, shaking the foundation of their marriage.

Rashmi lives a wealthy lifestyle in India along with her widower dad, Dr. Sanjeev Jaitly. She aspires to be a singer and dancer, and is encouraged by her friends and dad to take this up as a profession. She prepares her portfolio and approaches R.K. Music Co, which is run by Rahul Kapoor. Rashmi is also an ardent fan of established singer/dancer, Mallika Arora, a client of Rahul, and always sends her gifts and flowers on every possible occasion. When Mallika fails to impress the public, Rahul is advised to look for fresh talent, and he approaches Rashmi, and together they release their first album which turns to be a major success. Together they deliver many other hits and also fall in love with each other. Sanjeev initially opposes their romance and eventual marriage as he feels that Rahul and his celebrity lifestyle is not right for Rashmi. He eventually gives in when Rashmi insists on marrying Rahul...
